Munataka Shrine

Munataka Shrine sits at the southwest of Kyoto Imperial Palace, and has protected Kyoto City for more than 1200 years. The main enshrined deity, Munataka-Ookami, helps people cut their way through, and gives protection to anything that concerns production, such as agriculture, industry, and childbirth. Munataka Shrine is also unique for its relationship with the Imperial House of Japan.
